Apple has announced its new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus in an event held on the 9th of September, 2014.
New features of the iPhone 6 include a 4.7-inch screen which is larger than any previous iPhone model, and a new chip, the Apple A8 processor, which is the successor of the A7. Apple also says that the new chip is up to 50 times faster than the one they had in the original iPhone. The new phone is also 6.9 millimetres thin and has a new reachability feature which allows for one-handed operation. Both the battery life and camera gets an upgrade with the latter being able to capture 1080p footage at 60 frames per second, with a continuous autofocus while recording.
The iPhone 6 Plus is the first iPhone phablet. With a display size of 5.5 inches, the iPhone 6 Plus has a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 with a pixel density of 401 pixels per inch. While both the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus feature 8 MP rear-facing cameras, the 6 Plus has the advantage of optical image stabilization, which is an improvement over the iPhone 6’s digital image stabilization. Battery life on the iPhone 6 Plus clocks in at a supposed, and impressive, 16 days of standby, 80 hours of audio playback, 14 hours of video playback and 12 hours of internet use. In terms of thickness, while the iPhone 6 is about 0.27 inches, the 6 Plus is only 0.28 inches thick and weighs in at 6.07 ounces.
