What tweaks are compatible with iOS 8.3? Here’s a list

8:34 AM Posted by Ariana No comments

Our friends over at r/jailbreak have compiled a list of compatible jailbreak tweaks for iOS 8.3. Unsurprsingly, most of the tweaks on the list have problems or don’t work at all. This is due to the fact that a fix needs to be implemented by the TaiG team to ensure Cydia Substrate compatibility.
Even still, there are a few jailbreak apps that don’t rely on Cydia Substrate, and thus work. Once Cydia Substrate compatibility is restored, this list will likely change rapidly as developers lend attention to their tweaks and apps.
Here are some of the notable jailbreak apps that work right now:
  • iFile
  • MTerminal
  • Kodi
  • OpenSSH
  • GB4iOS
As stated, there aren’t a lot of working jailbreak tweaks and apps for iOS 8.3, but the few that do work are solid releases that many can enjoy.
Here’s a link to the full list.
Did your favorite app or tweak make the cut? Which tweak or app are you most anticipating using?

How to enable Cydia Substrate on the iOS 8.3 jailbreak

7:28 AM Posted by Ariana , , No comments

If you’re jailbroken on iOS 8.3, you’ve likely been frustrated by the lack of Cydia Substratesupport up until now. As you’re no doubt aware of by now, Cydia Substrate hasn’t worked on iOS 8.3 due to a fix that needs to be implemented by the folks at TaiG.
The good news is that the fix is out, and I’ve confirmed that it works. If you’ve jailbroken your device with the TaiG 2.0 tool yesterday or earlier today, you can use a simple .deb file install to fix Cydia Substrate in just a few minutes.
In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to install the TaiG 8.3 Untether .deb on your jailbroken iOS 8.3 device and fix Cydia Substrate.
Note: Your device must already be jailbroken with the TaiG 2.0 tool.
Step 1: Install iFile from Cydia
Step 2: Force close Cydia
Step 3: On your iOS 8.3 device, go to our download page
Step 4: Tap the TaiG 8.3 Untether.deb download
Step 5: Tap open in iFile
Step 6: Tap Install
Step 7: Reboot your device after the install completes
That’s all there is to it. Now go enjoy all of the compatible jailbreak apps and tweaks that rely on Cydia Substrate! We’ll be back with a full tutorial for the TaiG 2.1 jailbreak tool for Windows a bit later.

How to Fix a TaiG iOS 8.3 Jailbreak Stuck at 20%

9:01 AM Posted by Ariana No comments
here is an issue where the TaiG jailbreak of iOS 8.3 can get stuck at 20%.

If you've waited for a while and/or you receive an error -1101, you may have to follow these steps.

To resolve this issue you must install iTunes 12.0.1. We would suggest that you cleanly remove the current version of iTunes on your PC. You can do this by following these steps.

Reboot, then download and install iTunes 12.0.1 from here.

Once you've installed iTunes 12.0.1 be sure not to update it when prompted, then run TaiG as instructed here.

If you have any questions please ask them in the comments. You may follow iClarified on TwitterFacebook,Google+, or RSS for further updates.

How to Jailbreak Your iPhone 6 Plus, 6, 5s, 5c, 5, 4s Using TaiG (Windows) [iOS 8.3]

8:49 AM Posted by Ariana No comments

These are instructions on how to jailbreak your iPhone 6 Plus, 6, 5s, 5c, 5, 4s on iOS 8.1.3 - 8.3 using TaiG for Windows...

If you aren't already at iOS 8.3 we suggest upgrading to the latest firmware using iTunes. You can find download links for iOS 8.3 here. We've also posted instructions on how to update the firmware of your iPhone. Please note that you must update using iTunes rather than Software Update. If you used Software Update you should do a backup then restore to iOS 8.3 using iTunes.

Step One
Create an iClarified folder on your desktop and download the latest version of TaiG into the folder. If your download is a zip file then extract the archive into the same folder.

tep Two
Tap Settings from your Springboard then select Touch ID & PasscodeTurn Passcode Off if it is enabled.
Step Three

Press the Settings button at the top left to return to the Settings menu. Choose iCloud from the Settings menu then select Find My iPhone from the iCloud menu. Ensure the Find My iPhone switch is the Off position.

Step Four
Connect your iPhone to the computer via a USB cable, launch iTunes, and perform a manual backup. It is very important that you remember to backup your device before continuing as you could lose your data if the jailbreak process does not complete successfully.

Step Five
Double click the TaiGJBreak executable from the iClarified folder on your desktop to launch the application.
Step Six
You will notice the device is detected by the software. Uncheck the bottom checkbox to prevent the TaiG App Store from being installed then click the large Green button to begin your jailbreak.

Step Seven
The TaiG app will now begin the jailbreak process.

Step Eight
Once the jailbreak has completed successfully, you will be shown a green smilie face, your iPhone will reboot and a Cydia app will appear on your Springboard. Congratulations, you're now jailbroken!

*A big thanks to the TaiG team and all the others who contributed to this jailbreak.

How to Remove Duplicate Contacts on the iPhone (iOS 8)

1:59 PM Posted by Ariana , No comments
This guide will show you how to remove duplicate contacts on the iPhone with iOS 8. This works with all current iPhones from the iPhone 4s up to the iPhone 6 Plus. If you only need to get rid of a few duplicate contacts on the iPhone you can do this manually in a few seconds, but if you need to fix dozens you’ll want to use an app that can remove all your duplicate contacts on the iPhone at once.
Duplicate iPhone contacts happen when you add multiple accounts like a personal Gmail account, an iCloud account and a work account that may all include the same contact with slightly different information. You can try to move all of your contacts to one single service, but that is not a practical solution for everyone.
We’ll show you how to remove duplicate contacts on the iPhone running iOS 8. You don’t need your computer to do this, just the iPhone in your hand.
You don’t need to delete one of the contacts, instead we will merge the two contacts into a single instance on the iPhone. You can even merge triplicates if you have the same contact in your address book several times. This is a fast and easy solution to cleaning up your iPhone contacts and address book.
We’ll start with the manual way to remove duplicate contacts from the iPhone on iOS 8. The directions are very similar for iOS 7. If you need to remove a lot of duplicate contacts and you don’t want to do this one by one, you can buy a cheap app to merge many contacts all at once.

How to Remove Duplicate Contacts on the iPhone (iOS 8)

If you only need to remove a few duplicate contacts, this is the best way to go about it. You won’t actually remove any contacts. Instead we will merge contacts so that you have all the information in one place without re-typing it. This will also keep the contacts on your other email accounts as they are now, so you don’t need to worry about losing something.

You need to open the Contacts app on your iPhone. This is often inside the Extras folder. If you don’t see it you can tap and pull down on the middle of your iPhone home screen to open a search box and then type in contacts.
On this screen you will see your contacts and you may quickly spot duplicates that need fixed. Tap on one of the contacts to open it. If the names are spelled slightly different, start with the one you want to keep.
Tap on Edit in the upper right corner then scroll down until you see link contacts with a green plus sign next to it.
Tap on link contacts and then scroll to the other contact or search for the other contact using the search bar at the top. The contact you are currently editing will show as gray, while the others are black.

Find the duplicate iPhone contact and link it.
Tap on the second contact and then tap on Link in the upper right corner. The next screen will put you back to the edit contact page and you will see Linked Contacts showing the two are connected. If you need to link another contact to this same contact tap on link contacts again.
If you need to unlink contacts, tap on the red minus sign.

Tap Done to exit to the contact entry and then tap on the back arrow to go to your contacts where there should now be only one entry. If you need to remove other duplicate contacts from the iPhone, start over using the directions above.

How to Bulk Merge Duplicate Contacts on the iPhone

If you need to fix a lot of duplicate contacts on the iPhone running iOS 8 at the same time, and you don’t want to perform the steps above over and over, you can buy an app that merges your contacts for you with a few taps.
You can download the Cleanup Duplicate Contacts app for free, which will analyze your contacts for duplicates. You need to pay 99 cents to gain access to the bulk removal option, but we cleaned almost two dozen contacts for free.
Search for duplicate contacts on the iPhone with this free app.
When prompted allow access to your contacts. You don’t need to allow notifications.
Tap on Analyze and when prompted we chose to allow for merging between sources so that we only see one entry for a contact even if they are in our work contacts and personal contacts.

After it detects the duplicate contacts, you can choose which ones you want to merge and which you don’t by unchecking next to the names. We stopped it from merging two people who share a home phone number and a father and son who share the same name.
Tap Merge and the app will fix the duplicates or you. This moves the contact info to one contact instead of linking the contacts like the manual options.
The app did not detect a Josh Baker and a Joshua Baker with different phone numbers. Users can configure what level of matching is needed. The app also backs up your contacts before the clean up if you create an account.

If you were eager to get in on Microsoft's technical preview for its Office suite, it looks like now is your chance. Participation in the preview was originally limited to those who received an invite, however it appears to be open to the public as of today, albeit still under a non-disclosure agreement (NDA).
All you have to do to give it a shot is head over to the source link below and click the "join" button in the row for Microsoft Office Consumer Technical Preview. After an initial sign-up process, you should be able to download the latest Office preview software.

Be aware that while the preview is downloadable by anyone who signs up, you are still required to sign an NDA. However, once you've cleared that hurdle, you'll be off and testing the January build of the Office 2016 Consumer Technical Preview, along with the lovely new dark theme pictured above.

Five Apps to Watch TV on Your Phone

3:04 PM Posted by Ariana

Let’s face it, no one has time to sit down to watch a show when it actually airs or head to the theater to catch the latest summer blockbuster. The best way to catch up on your favorite shows is while you’re on the go. Whether you’re waiting at the doctor’s office or enjoying a day in the park, you can watch anything all in the palm of your hand with these five free apps. While the apps are all free, you might need a subscription to view the content, but we will note the specifics under each app.

1. Netflix

If you don’t know what Netflix is, this is the first time you’ve gotten on the internet. It started out as a service where people could order DVD rentals online and have them delivered, but in the last few years has turned into a streaming powerhouse. Pay $7 a month to access thousands of movies or shows right from your phone, with your membership you’ll have access to the free app for phone or tablet, unlimited hours of watching each month and complete seasons of Netflix originals including Orange is the New Black. If you love TV, Netflix is an incredibly easy way to binge while on the move. You can see what you’ve already viewed, rate your favorites and then the app will generate suggestions.

Download it here for Apple.

Download it here for Android.

Pros:
  • Huge database of content
  • Unlimited watching hours
  • Can download the app for phone or tablet
Cons:
  • Have to pay a monthly subscription
  • Need Wifi to stream
  • Can sometimes crash

2. Hulu

The one thing Netflix can’t do is stream current seasons of shows, so if you want to catch up on the newest Modern Family, you have to wait until they add it. That is where Hulu comes in, it takes the new shows from networks like ABC, NBC and FOX and puts them online the day after they air. Hulu does have some free content but if you want access to archives of shows or certain episodes sign up for Hulu Plus at $8 a month. Hulu does have a few movies, and while most aren’t the most popular titles, the app does contain access to the Criterion Collection, which boasts important classic and contemporary films.

Download it here for Apple.

Download it here for Android.

Pros:
  • Current seasons of shows
  • Over 100,000 episodes
  • Shows from many channels including Comedy Central and Cartoon Network
Cons:
  • Each video has commercials
  • Need Wifi to use
  • Need a paid subscription

3. YouTube

YouTube is Google’s free streaming video service, and yes it doesn’t technically have traditional television shows but there is plenty of content to keep you entertained for years. Sometimes you don’t have time for an entire 45 min episode of CSI, but you can sit down for a 15 minute prank video. The creator community on YouTube has grown substantially in the last few years and that has not only filled the site with millions of hours of content but also better produced content. You can find something with a narrative arc if that is what you’re looking for, or just watch someone put on makeup.

Download it here for Apple.

Download it here for Android.

Pros:
  • Every video is free
  • There is something for anyone
  • Countless hours of content
Cons:
  • Ads before and during videos
  • Works better with internet connection
  • Can be hard to find what you’re looking for

4. Crackle

Crackle was created as a place for content for men, so explosions, farts and cars. Since it’s inception it has turned into a good place to find a movie or maybe even original content for free. Until June 24, 2015 it is the only streaming site that legally has every season of Seinfeld. The movies are switched out often, so there’s always new content to enjoy, and the best part is everything is free. You don’t need to pay monthly to watch Step Brothers and Anaconda as many times as you like. It even has original programming from Seinfeld himself called Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, where he picks up comedians and drives around with them. It is more interesting than it sounds, and all free.

Download it here for Apple.

Download it here for Android.

Pros:
  • Absolutely free
  • Movies are traded out often
  • Only place, for now, that streams Seinfeld
Cons:
  • Commercials
  • Search function is clunky
  • Easier to use with Wifi

5. HBO Now/Go

HBO has been killing it lately with shows like Game of Thrones, True Detective and Silicon Valley. If you’re not watching HBO Sunday entertainment, you’re missing out. It’s not always easy to get access to premium channels but the CEO of HBO has made it more accessible for anyone with an internet connection to join. The company has two apps. The first is called HBO Go, and you can only access it if you have a subscription to the channel through you cable provider, or if you’re like millions of college students and have access to your mom’s log in information. The CEO said that he doesn’t care if you share passwords because he knows it’s going to happen anyway, you might as well be safe about it. The other app was just recently released and it is called HBO Now. Anyone can pay $15 a month and have access to all the shows and movies without actually having cable. You can’t get HBO Now for Android yet but it is in the works.

Download it here for Apple.

Download it here for Android.

Pros:
  • Access to all of HBO’s past and present shows
  • Hundreds of movies to stream
  • Watch comedy specials and documentaries
Cons:
  • HBO Now isn’t available for Android
  • Have to have access to cable log-in or pay $15 a month
  • Kind of difficult to navigate
